Betsy Layne waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Magoffin County Hornets by a score of 75-64. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Hornets are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Betsy Layne got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Allen out in front who went 6-for-9 en route to 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Allen a new career-high in blocks (two). Cameron Pente was another key player, going 8-for-17 on his way to 20 points along with six boards and five assists.

Betsy Layne's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.3 points over those games. As for Magoffin County, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-20.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bobcats face off against the Jaguars at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Magoffin County, they will challenge Johnson Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Johnson Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches.
