Recap: Mountain House Mustangs vs. Johansen Vikings
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clovis North, the Mountain House Mustangs were happy to have found some success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-44 win over Johansen. Given Mountain House's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Johansen is ranked 877th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mountain House got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriel Williams out in front who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Pinn, who scored ten points.
Johansen's loss came despite strong showings from Caidan Bounmany and Wilbert Gaxiola. Bounmany scored 20 points, while Gaxiola scored 15 points. The contest was Gaxiola's third in a row with at least ten points.
Mountain House's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Johansen, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Mountain House will be playing in front of their home fans against Beyer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Beyer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Mountain House likes a good challenge. As for Johansen, they will head out on the road to face off against Los Banos at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
