Baseball Recap: Sunnyside Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Sunnyside came into Tuesday's matchup having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Davis Pirates by a score of 10-6 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Grizzlies considering their one-run performance the game before.

Jorge Moreno looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Sunnyside: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 0-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Trey Castro was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Prince Garza, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Sunnyside's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Davis, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Sunnyside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
