Baseball Game Preview: St. Thomas More Cavaliers vs. Racine Lutheran/Prairie Crusaders

St. Thomas More is a perfect 10-0 against Racine Lutheran/Prairie since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will challenge the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. St. Thomas More is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

St. Thomas More fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Marquette University on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 10-9. The Cavaliers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Manny Sostre put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had over his last four matchups. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Brayden Alivo was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Andrew Dodge was another key player, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Racine Lutheran/Prairie couldn't beat Racine Case on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Crusaders fell 12-8 to the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

St. Thomas More's record is now 10-6. As for Racine Lutheran/Prairie, their record now sits at 2-13.

Everything went St. Thomas More's way against Racine Lutheran/Prairie when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as St. Thomas More made off with a 19-3 win. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
