Football Recap: Cedar Shoals Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Cedar Shoals extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They had to suffer through a 41-3 loss at the hands of the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.

As for Monroe Area, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Cedar Shoals is ranked 292nd).

Jitt Carr had a dynamite game, rushing for 172 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 52 receiving yards. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.

Looking ahead, Cedar Shoals is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Stephens County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monroe Area, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Apalachee at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
