Volleyball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Sunrise Mountain and Chaparral squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Sunrise Mountain had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 3-2. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their 20-game winning streak.

Sunrise Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lily Rolfes, who had 28 digs and one block. She has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last 37 times she's played. Kami Milner was another key player, getting 26 digs.

Chaparral was led to victory by Caprice Cooper and Avery Crain. Cooper had 47 digs and two aces, while Crain had 16 digs. That's the most digs Crain has posted since back in September.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 35-4. As for Chaparral, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 34-5.

As of now, neither Sunrise Mountain nor the Firebirds have any future games scheduled.
