Softball Game Preview: Flat Rock Rams vs. Grosse Ile Red Devils

Flat Rock is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Grosse Ile a ten-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Flat Rock Rams will be playing at home against the Grosse Ile Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Flat Rock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Flat Rock didn't have quite enough to beat St. Mary's Prep and fell 9-8.

Addi Kopp and Jaclynn Motyka did some serious damage despite the final result: Kopp went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Motyka went 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Sarah Giroux was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Grosse Ile came up short against Milan on Wednesday, falling 18-2.

Grosse Ile saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Antosiewicz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Grosse Ile's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Flat Rock, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Grosse Ile's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Flat Rock has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Grosse Ile, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Flat Rock's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.

Flat Rock was able to grind out a solid win over Grosse Ile in their previous meeting back in April, winning 5-1. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
