Basketball Game Preview: Magnolia Blue Eagles vs. Trinity Christian Warriors

The Magnolia Blue Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Trinity Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Magnolia will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Magnolia didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Hundred, but they still walked away with a 74-70 win.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity Christian). They claimed a resounding 73-25 victory over Paden City. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Magnolia better keep an eye on Austin Porta. He was instrumental in Trinity Christian's win, going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 41 points and three steals. Porta's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Maddox Mousadis, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Magnolia's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Trinity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.

Everything came up roses for Magnolia against Trinity Christian in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the team secured an 80-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Magnolia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
