Soccer Recap: Petal Falls Short Against Ranked Northwest Rankin

On Thursday, Petal faced Northwest Rankin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Petal Panthers lost 6-1 to the Northwest Rankin Cougars. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Petal's goal came courtesy of Emory Meyers, who's now up to four this season.

Petal's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9. As for Northwest Rankin, they pushed their record up to 19-2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Petal has already played their next game (against Ocean Springs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Northwest Rankin will face off against Gulfport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Rankin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.3 goals per game this season.
