Softball Recap: Palma Finds Home Field Redemption Against North Monterey County

There's no place like home for Palma, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the North Monterey County Condors on Monday as the Palma Chieftains made off with a 7-1 victory.

Sophia Marquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Analysia Rocha, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Rocha is crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Reese Amaral was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Palma's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for North Monterey County, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palma will take on Ann Sobrato at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ann Sobrato will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Palma surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Monterey County, they will square off against Gonzales at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
