Softball Game Preview: Franklin Road Academy Panthers vs. Providence Christian Academy LIONS

For the second straight game, Franklin Road Academy will face off against Providence Christian Academy. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Franklin Road Academy Panthers duke it out with Providence Christian Academy LIONS at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Franklin Road Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Providence Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Franklin Road Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Providence Christian Academy a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Millie Pardue made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Pardue wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ren Spencer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Marjorie Clark also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Franklin Road Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Providence Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Franklin Road Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Providence Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts.
