Basketball Recap: Laney Uchtman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Osceola over Jasper

Osceola has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Jasper Eagles on the road by a 47-30 margin on Friday. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Osceola's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laney Uchtman, who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Uchtman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, Osceola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 15-5. As for Jasper, their victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Osceola will head out to square off against Crest Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Crest Ridge will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Osceola surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jasper, they will head out on the road to challenge Appleton City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
