Softball Recap: Oak Grove Starts Season with Victory at Home

Oak Grove took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They put the hurt on the East Wilkes Cardinals with a sharp 11-0 victory.

Isabelle Lawrence made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lawrence was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Oak Grove let Chloe Smith and Lauren Sexton run wild. Smith scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Sexton scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Smith has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eleanor Potter, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Oak Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-2 loss against West Forsyth on the 26th. As for East Wilkes, they have also already played their next match, an 11-1 defeat against South Caldwell on the 1st.
