Baseball Recap: Cimarron Takes a Loss

Cimarron had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-3 to make it four. They fell just short of the Southwestern Heights Mustangs by a score of 6-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bluejays of the 10-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Logan Heddlesten put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Heddlesten was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Coulter Dohrmann made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Landon Charles, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

As for Southwestern Heights, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season.

On Southwestern Heights' side, Hayes Saucedo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Saucedo has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Randy Thiessen also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cimarron beat Southwestern Heights by a score of 12-0 later that day.
