Softball Game Preview: Pinckneyville Panthers vs. Johnston City Indians

The Pinckneyville Panthers will face off against the Johnston City Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pinckneyville has eight straight wins, Johnston City has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Pinckneyville got the win against Benton by a conclusive 11-2. Considering the Panthers have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Johnston City came up short against Carbondale on Monday and fell 6-1.

Carlee Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Peyton Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

Pinckneyville's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Johnston City, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
