Football Recap: Raytown Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Raytown can now relate to. They came up short against the Grain Valley Eagles on Friday, falling 49-28. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Eagles are ranked 35th).

When it comes to explaining why Raytown lost, don't look at Roger Haney. Despite the final result, he picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The Bluejays also got help from Traice Collier, who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.

Raytown's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Grain Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Raytown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grain Valley, they will face off against Platte County at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Pirates' defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
