The West Potomac Wolverines are taking a road trip to challenge the Robinson Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Potomac has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
West Potomac proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 16) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Oakton 15-13. The win was nothing new for the Wolverines as they're now sitting on three straight.
Mari Shimakawa-Urena made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sabrina Driggers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Lydia Pullen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
West Potomac hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, while Robinson put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Alexandria City. The Rams were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Titans. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Aleaha Burgy and Marina Palazzo did most of the damage at the plate: Burgy went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Palazzo went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Giuliana Costa was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.
West Potomac's record now sits at 3-5. As for Robinson, their record is now 7-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. West Potomac has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Potomac suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Robinson when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
