The Holy Cross Crusaders will venture away from home to face off against the Immaculate Mustangs at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Holy Cross fell victim to St. Paul Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 12-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Crusaders have suffered against the Falcons since May 4, 2019.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Immaculate). They put the hurt on Joel Barlow with a sharp 21-9 victory on Friday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Maddie Costa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Costa was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jessica Sposato was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Norah Whitmore was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Immaculate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory snapped Immaculate's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for Holy Cross, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.
Holy Cross came out on top in a nail-biter against Immaculate when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
