Football Game Preview: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Person Rockets

The Southern Alamance Patriots will head out to take on the Person Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Southern Alamance took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Graham 76-0. That 76 point margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.

Southern Alamance's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Alexander led the charge by rushing for 95 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Alexander a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Sincere Thompson was in the mix too, providing Southern Alamance with three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southern Alamance was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 384 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Graham only rushed for -13.

Southern Alamance didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jace Rich and Camden Whittemore. Southern Alamance got some further help from Brantley Messick: he picked up three sacks and made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Person beat Cummings 40-28 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Person's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rylan Phillips, Lucas Betts, and Todd Halljr, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Cummings' side was Phillips, who picked up a sack, made 11 total tackles, and defended one pass.

Person now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Southern Alamance, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.

Southern Alamance beat Person 23-12 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
