Softball Recap: De Anza Dons vs. Albany Cougars

De Anza had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it five. They fell just short of the Albany Cougars by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 back in March.

Mya Arroyo put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Arroyo was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Riana Everetts was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Aryana Robles was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Albany, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.
