Softball Recap: Pottsville Find Success

After losing to Tamaqua the last time they met, Pottsville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Crimson Tide walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Blue Raiders on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crimson Tide.

The result came thanks to Peyton Eckert's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jes Siminitus was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Pottsville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Tamaqua, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-4-1 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pottsville is set to challenge their familiar foe Blue Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Tamaqua will face off against rival Pine Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Raiders 2.8, the Cardinals 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
