Softball Recap: Spring Grove Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Spring Grove had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Schaeffer Academy on Thursday. Spring Grove was the clear victor by a 21-5 margin over Schaeffer Academy. Spring Grove might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Spring Grove let Jada Strinmoen and Kendal Van Minsel run wild. Strinmoen went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Van Minsel went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Strinmoen has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabel Kaufmann, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Spring Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Spring Grove's third in a row) raised their record to 11-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Schaeffer Academy, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Coming up, Spring Grove will challenge Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Schaeffer Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
