Volleyball Game Preview: St. Xavier Bombers vs. Roncalli Royals

The St. Xavier Bombers will head out on the road to square off against the Roncalli Royals at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with St. Xavier sitting on 13 straight wins and Roncalli on 12.

St. Xavier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Archbishop Moeller, who was ranked sixth at the time (St. Xavier was ranked first). The Bombers blew past the Fighting Crusaders 3-0 on Friday.

St. Xavier never let Archbishop Moeller on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21, 26-24.

Among those leading the charge was Luke Sorce, who had 13 digs and four assists.

Meanwhile, Roncalli made easy work of Perry Meridian on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Roncalli not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Perry Meridian between 15 and 17 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-15.

St. Xavier better keep an eye on Aiden Hill. He was instrumental in Roncalli's win, getting 13 digs and two assists. Maddox Butler also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Roncalli's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for St. Xavier, their record now sits at 18-1.
