Softball Game Preview: Orestimba Warriors vs. Pacific Grove Breakers

The Orestimba Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Pacific Grove Breakers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Orestimba has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Pacific Grove will arrive with three straight wins.

Orestimba blew Hughson out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Hughson got their revenge. Orestimba fell just short of Hughson by a score of 2-0.

Meanwhile, Pacific Grove earned a 6-1 victory over Soledad on Thursday.

Alex Giammanco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Savannah Hardy was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Jasmine Booker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Orestimba's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Pacific Grove, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Orestimba couldn't quite finish off Pacific Grove in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Orestimba avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
