Preview: Hibriten Panthers vs. Ashe County Huskies
Hibriten is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Ashe County is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hibriten Panthers will take on the Ashe County Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Hibriten has not done well against Freedom recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Hibriten enjoyed a cozy 52-34 win over Freedom.
Meanwhile, even though Alexander Central scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, Ashe County still came out on top. Ashe County walked away with a 68-61 win over Alexander Central. The victory was all the more spectacular given Ashe County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Alexander Central is ranked eighth).
Hibriten's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Ashe County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Hibriten was able to grind out a solid victory over Ashe County when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 60-47. Will Hibriten repeat their success, or does Ashe County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
