Basketball Recap: Vincennes Lincoln Alices vs. Washington Hatchets

The Vincennes Lincoln Alices and the Washington Hatchets squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Vincennes Lincoln Alices had to settle for second. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hatchets. While losing is never fun, Vincennes Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Hatchets are ranked 28th).

Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayleigh Cummins led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five assists and two steals. It was the first time this season that Cummins scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Katie Reed, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Vincennes Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Washington, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.

Vincennes Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Washington and the Titans will face off at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gibson Southern has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matches.
