Basketball Recap: Bayfield Wolverines vs. Dove Creek Bulldogs

The Bayfield Wolverines had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 77-43 victory over Dove Creek on the road. Bayfield's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Bayfield's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lincoln Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Williams is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Cooper Rodrick was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.

Sheldon Gardner and Liam Hassell certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Gardner scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Hassell scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Gardner continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Bayfield's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-13. As for Dove Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Bayfield will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ignacio is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Dove Creek, they will head out on the road to take on the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Ouray is ranked 245th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 244th).
