Basketball Recap: Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton Takes a Loss

Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 74-16 to the Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while Sesser-Valier/Waltonville is ranked 166th).

Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton will take on Fulton County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, they will challenge Woodlawn at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Woodlawn is on a four-game streak of home wins, Sesser-Valier/Waltonville a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
