Basketball Recap: Dell Rapids' Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton last Tuesday, Dell Rapids came back down to earth. The Dell Rapids Quarriers took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vermillion Tanagers. The Quarriers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tanagers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Dell Rapids still got an impressive performance from Tad Tjaden, who went 8 for 13 en route to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Anderson, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points.

The loss snapped Dell Rapids' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record. As for Vermillion, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Dell Rapids will square off against Groton at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Groton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Dell Rapids likes a good challenge. As for Vermillion, they will face off against Sturgis Brown at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Vermillion's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
