A big part of Red Mountain's victory came down to the chemistry between Dominic Carmigiano and his top target King Robinson. Carmigiano threw for 180 yards and a pair of TDs while Robinson picked up 67 receiving yards and one score. Those 67 receiving yards gave Robinson a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Red Mountain proved: they limited ALA - Queen Creek to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Jameson Wade for the heroic effort on defense: he. Red Mountain's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.4.
Red Mountain's defense didn't let Cody Lalama, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Cole Edmonds was especially locked on to ALA - Queen Creek's QB and sacked him twice. The game marked Edmonds' first with multiple sacks this season. Red Mountain got some further help from Wade: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 14 total tackles (2.5 for loss).
Meanwhile, Liberty had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they went ahead and made it eight last Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 55-13 win over the Jaguars. With the Lions ahead 48-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Liberty's win came from a few key players Red Mountain will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jayden Pico, who threw for 101 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing. Trey Youngker was in the mix as well, providing Liberty with two scores.
Red Mountain's record is now 9-2. As for Liberty, their record now sits at 9-1.
