Softball Recap: University Gets the Win

University is still undefeated this season after their match against Wheeling Central Catholic on Wednesday, but Wheeling Central Catholic came as close as anyone has to beating them. University came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Wheeling Central Catholic. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Maroon Knights, too.

The team relied heavily on Kelsey Park, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Sophia Lehosit also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

University's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University will head out to take on John Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Toronto at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
