The Gulf Breeze Dolphins will take on the Crestview Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Friday, Gulf Breeze needed a bit of extra time to put away Tate. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Aggies. The Dolphins haven't had any issues with the Aggies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Sydney Hersom made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hersom was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Keown, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooke Peeler, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Crestview hadn't done well against Niceville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Crestview had just enough and edged out Niceville 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Cambell Toolan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits. Those hits marked the first that she's allowed this season.
At the plate, Taeia Schriner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. She also put up two hits, which were her first of the season. Anna Parker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
The win got Crestview back to even at 2-2. As for Gulf Breeze, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Crestview's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Gulf Breeze has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Crestview, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Gulf Breeze keep running through batters, or will Crestview buck the trend?
