Preview: Caroline Cavaliers vs. King George Foxes
Caroline has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The King George Foxes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Caroline will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while King George is ranked ninth).
Caroline missed an extra point against Chancellor on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Caroline and Chancellor were almost perfectly matched up, but Caroline suffered an agonizing 22-21 loss.
Caroline's loss came about despite a quality game from Vladimir Joacin, Jr. , who rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Malik Johnson, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Caroline's defense still kept up the pressure with 5.5 sacks. Leading the way was Damauri Brown and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, King George put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 54-0 victory over Culpeper County on the road.
King George can attribute much of their success to Chanz Wiggins, who picked up 119 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Jack Pearson, who threw for 263 yards and six touchdowns. Pearson is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played.
King George's victory bumped their season record to 6-0 while Caroline's defeat dropped theirs to 3-3.
Caroline was dealt a bruising 49-0 defeat at the hands of King George in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Caroline avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
