Recap: Trinity Christian Gryphons vs. Saint John Paul the Great Catholic Wolves
After a string of five wins, the Trinity Christian Gryphons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saint John Paul the Great Catholic. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Trinity Christian in their matchups with Saint John Paul the Great Catholic: they've now lost nine in a row.
Saint John Paul the Great Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angelica Morales, who scored two points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Saleema Tinner, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Trinity Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1. As for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-4.
Trinity Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Fairfax HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairfax HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Trinity Christian is ranked 62nd). Saint John Paul the Great Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bishop Ireton at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Bishop Ireton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 346 points over their last five matches.
