Softball Recap: Clay Panthers vs. Whiteoak Wildcats

Clay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 7-4 to the Whiteoak Wildcats. Clay was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Whiteoak apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2017.

Sarah Cassidy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Abigail Wiltshire and Madison Carver stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wiltshire scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Carver went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a triple.

On Whiteoak's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Bri Hill gave up just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Jaylie Parr was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4. Kylee Hamm was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double.

Clay's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Whiteoak, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.

As of now, neither Clay nor Whiteoak have any future games scheduled.
