Baseball Recap: Dixie Heights Comes Up Short

Dixie Heights came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-1 to the Ryle Raiders. The Colonels have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Dixie Heights saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Caudill, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave Caudill a new career-high. Oliver Linstruth also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Dixie Heights now has a losing record of 2-3-1. As for Ryle, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie Heights will host Newport Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ryle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Moeller at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
