Baseball Recap: Staley Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Staley had won four straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 19-1 to make it five. Everything went their way against the Central Indians as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Jacob Garcia looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Alexander Paul was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Evan Abbott was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Staley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted a batting average of .261.

As for Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.53 runs allowed.

On Central's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Massey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Staley will take on Oak Park at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central, they will face off against Bellevue East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
