Baseball Recap: Valley Christian Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Valley Christian won the last time they faced Gilbert Christian and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Trojans came out on top against the Knights by a score of 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Jaxen Maxey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Maxey wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Grier, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Valley Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Gilbert Christian, they moved to 9-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Valley Christian will face off against Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Gophers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gilbert Christian, they will take on ALA - Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
