Softball Recap: Braddock Has No Trouble Against Homestead

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Braddock had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Homestead Broncos with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Emely Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Ramirez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times she's played.

In other batting news, Braddock let Anelis Goberna and Emily Cancio run wild. Goberna went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Cancio went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Cancio is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Anais Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

Braddock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are 9-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Braddock has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. As for Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Looking ahead, Braddock will head out to challenge Cooper City at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cowboys have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. Homestead does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
