Basketball Recap: Red Bud Comes Up Short

Red Bud was the 38-35 winner over Marissa/Coulterville when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Bud Musketeers took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors on Thursday.

Despite the loss, Red Bud saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Talia Carter went 5 of 12 en route to 10 points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Red Bud smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Red Bud's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Marissa/Coulterville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Red Bud will venture away from home to challenge Wesclin at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-35 win against Chester on the 25th.
