Softball Recap: Seacrest Country Day Takes a Loss

Seacrest Country Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Community School of Naples Seahawks. The Stingrays were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Seahawks earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Caroline Porter was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She also put up a walk, which was her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jolie Booth was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Barley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Even though they lost, Seacrest Country Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Seacrest Country Day's record now sits at 2-4. As for Community School of Naples, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seacrest Country Day will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Everglades City at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Community School of Naples, they will take on South Fort Myers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
