The Eldorado Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the La Cueva Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
La Cueva will be up against a hot Eldorado team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Golden Eagles' way against Capital on Monday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ethan Marquez made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other pitching news, Jace Sanchez-Reynolds looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, John Wofford and Cirillio Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Wofford scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Martinez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Those three runs gave Wofford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Hoffman, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Eldorado hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, La Cueva got the win against Manzano on Saturday by a conclusive 16-5. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
La Cueva pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Eldorado, their record is now 12-5.
Eldorado suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to La Cueva in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
