Softball Recap: Ripon Comes Up Short

Ripon came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Gregori Jaguars by a score of 6-4 on Friday. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Indians when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Addison Naranjo and Izabelle Spurzem did some serious damage despite the final result: Naranjo scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Spurzem went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Naranjo is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Addyson Wilmshurst also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Even though they lost, Ripon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Ripon dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Gregori, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Ripon will head out to face off against Tokay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gregori, they will take on Turlock at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
