Basketball Recap: Iola Comes Up Short

Iola won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by the Hearne Eagles 86-46. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Hearne was led to victory by Kellen Bowser and Cristian Robinson. Bowser dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists, while Robinson went 8 of 20 en route to 25 points and six steals. That's the most points Robinson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dereion Mitchell, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 16 points.

Iola's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Hearne, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Bremond the next time they take the court. Hearne will host Bremond at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Iola will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
