Basketball Recap: Mills Falls Despite Big Games from Jessie Jimenez and Jefriel Bacorro

Mills lost against San Mateo back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mills Vikings fell 55-42 to the San Mateo Bearcats. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1025th, while the Bearcats are ranked 295th).

Mills' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jefriel Bacorro, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points, and Jessie Jimenez, who went 6 of 9 en route to 13 points.

Even though they lost, Mills was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Mills' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for San Mateo, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Mills will head out to challenge Oceana at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Mills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for San Mateo, they will host El Camino at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. San Mateo will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
