Basketball Recap: Leland Takes a Loss

Leland lost against Shaw back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Leland Cubs fell 49-37 to the Shaw Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Warriors are ranked 135th).

Leland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Shaw, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

Leland will challenge West Bolivar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shaw, they will face off against Simmons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Simmons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Shaw likes a good challenge.
