Basketball Recap: Millbrook Extends Winning Streak to Three

Millbrook waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 77-68 win over the First Flight Nighthawks. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Millbrook got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashton King out in front who posted 28 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. The game was King's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alonzo Hester, who almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists.

King wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Millbrook was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, First Flight still got an impressive performance from Mason Dobie, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 boards. That was a full 45.6% of First Flight's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Johnson, who had eight points and nine boards.

Millbrook's record now sits at 4-2. As for First Flight, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Millbrook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-70 defeat against Farmville Central on the 7th. As for First Flight, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 80-73 win against Kinston on the 7th.
