Softball Recap: Garden Grove Beats Trabuco Hills for Their Third Straight Victory

Garden Grove entered their tilt with Trabuco Hills on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 8-4.

Jazmine Santos was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Santos was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Tayler Dooley was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Nevaeh Sosa was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Garden Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Garden Grove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Trabuco Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garden Grove will venture away from home to square off against Compton Early College at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Argonauts will need to watch out since the Rising Phoenix have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Trabuco Hills, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Juan Hills at 3:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
