Watauga waltzed into their game on Thursday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They put the hurt on the McDowell Titans with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-7, 25-17.

Leading Watauga to victory were Caroline Childers and Lilli Combs. Childers had 19 digs and two aces, while Combs had eight digs. Childers has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last 21 times she's played. Athena Elliott also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Watauga was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in five consecutive contests.

Watauga's record is now 14-1. As for McDowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watauga will venture away from home to square off against St. Stephens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McDowell, they will head out to take on East Burke at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
