Basketball Recap: Southern Choctaw Snaps 13-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Southern Choctaw entered their game against Jackson on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Southern Choctaw Indians had to suffer through a 76-35 loss at the hands of the Jackson Aggies. The match marked the Indians' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Southern Choctaw still got an impressive performance from Tristan Hill, who posted 11 points and five assists. Demarco Johnson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Duckworth, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Duckworth a new career-high in blocks (two). Joseph Taylor was another key player, posting 12 points along with seven assists and six steals.

Southern Choctaw's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2. As for Jackson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Southern Choctaw and Jackson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Southern Choctaw (ranked 204th) will meet Millry (ranked 417th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Choctaw is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Jackson (ranked 75th) will meet W.S. Neal (ranked 246th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
